New Check-in Day
Starting this summer, check-in for each week of camp will be on Sunday at 1pm and check-out will remain Saturday at 10am.

Our goal is to make the camp experience better for our campers. With the extra day, staff will now have longer than the current 3-hour turn-around time on cabin and bath house cleaning and preparation. This should allow our new campers to have cleaner cabins and bath houses. Direct service staff who currently have to provide programming every day will now have a chance for a day off, thereby a
allowing them an opportunity to reset, train, rest, and be ready for the next week of campers.

We want our customers to receive the best services from the best staff. We look forward to the opportunity to provide you with an excellent vacation!

Barnes Mather Corral
A huge thank you and good luck to the Barnes Family, who after 86 years providing trail and hay rides at Camp Mather, are hanging up their saddles.

SF Rec & Park will miss the dedication and expertise of the Barnes family and they will be truly missed. We hope to find another partner who can run the corral and follow in the Barnes’ footsteps.

Camp Mather Update- July 27, 2018

The following is a status update for Camp Mather and the Ferguson Fire, dated July 27, 2018.

  • Camp Mather is currently open and safe.
  • We are continuing to monitor air quality, which varies throughout the day, and adjusting camp activities accordingly. While it is safe to be active outside, sensitive groups such as children, seniors, and people with heart and respiratory issues should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion and take breaks in their physical activity.
  • The Recreation and Parks Department and Camp Mather staff are in constant contact with officials from the Tuolumne County public safety and emergency management agencies, Cal Fire, the U.S. Forest Service, San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, the Public Utilities Commission, the San Francisco Fire Department and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. We are providing our campers with up-to-the-minute updates on air quality, fire containment, and acreage burned.
  • Because the safety of our campers is paramount, we will enact our evacuation plan at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s first evacuation advisory or if health officials determine the air quality may be detrimental to the health of campers and staff.
  • Campers who cancel due to fire concerns will receive a refund.

For more information, please call the Camp Mather phone line at (415) 831-2715, or email matherreservations@sfgov.org.

2019 Camp Mather Application Process Update

$

0

Applications open on December 10th and close on January 13th for Summer of 2019.

As you have probably heard, we had to close Camp Mather this past summer due to poor air quality created by the Ferguson fire. It was a hard decision but this unforeseen interference to our Camp season was grounded in our efforts to ensure the health and safety of both campers and staff.

This closure forced us to cancel over 400 families’ reservations. As a result of these last-minute cancellations, we offered those families a priority reservation opportunity in October. This has left us with fewer spots available for the regular lottery.

We are also changing the application process for this year. You will now register for the lottery using this link: https://fs7.formsite.com/adonnelly/CampMather2019/index.html

This form includes a requirement that SF Resident applicants upload a copy of their driver’s license and a current property tax bill or utility bill in order to qualify for the resident lottery.

Due to the complexity in providing these guaranteed reservations, and the limited number of available slots this year, we are not able to accommodate group requests. If you want to go the same week as another family, please pick the same week choices in the same order, which will give you a better chance of being placed in the same week.

You will not be required to pay at $100 registration fee at the time of application. However, if you receive a reservation, you will need to pay the $200 deposit to confirm your reservation, no later than April 1. You can view the updated information on applying for the lottery and reservation rules at sfrecpark.org/campmather.
